What is the difference between route planning and navigation?
Route planning is a free feature (your network provider may charge for data transfer, therefore it is recommended that you use a Wi-Fi connection (such as hotspots) or a mobile internet flat rate; you can also avoid downloading data and costs related to data transfer by turning off the network connections in the network settings, (go to Options > Settings > Network > Use network > Never). It calculates and displays a route between two locations. A route simulation (with voice commands) is also possible (without paying additional license fees). Navigation is an extra service, which is available for purchase. Navigation means that the route is calculated from your current GPS position to a chosen destination (for mobile devices without an internal GPS receiver, an external GPS receiver may be necessary; check your mobile device’s manual to see if it is equipped with an internal GPS receiver).

Navigation is an extra service, which is available for purchase. Navigation means that the route is calculated from the user’s GPS position to a chosen destination. The navigation is voice-guided, meaning it tells the user how to get to the desired destination step by step (for example, “in 300 meters turn left…”). Navigation also automatically re-calculates the route if the user takes a wrong turn. The navigation feature can only be purchased for regions for which a navigable map is available (there are navigable and non-navigable maps). A route simulation is also not possible on non-navigable maps. This is due to the often poor quality of map information on these maps.
