What is the difference between rock and marine coral?
Marine coral sands are fragments of coral that have broken off from the reef due to wave action. These particles drift and are collected 1-2 miles from the reefs. Marine coral is wholesome because its nutrients are intact when collected. In Japan only marine coral is approved for human consumption. It dissolves easily in the stomach. However, rock coral is partially de-mineralized due to centuries of weathering that has left it with minimal amounts of magnesium and little if any of the 70 trace elements found in marine coral.
