An RJ11 is a 6 position phone type connector that uses 4 conductor. A RJ12 is a 6 position phone type connector that uses 6 conductors. The Hoffman Smart products use all 6 conductors so RJ12 type are required. Any splitters must use all 6 conductors or some sensors will not work properly.
