What is the difference between Renewal & Re-Issue?

Renewal Renewal pertains to extension of the validity of a passport, which is valid generally for one year or five years. Extension of validity is given on the same passport booklet. The applicant is, therefore, advised to fill in a miscellaneous application form without fee and ensure that the passport is not punched which will render it invalid. Re-issue Re-issue means issue of a fresh passport booklet after expiry of ten years validity. The applicant is advised to fill in EAP-I form, which is used for applying passport for the first time.
