What is the difference between REAL ID and an Enhanced 3-in-1 driver license or identification card?
REAL ID is a federal plan for standardizing driver license and identification cards, to prevent terrorism, reduce fraud and improve the reliability of identification documents issued by states. Some believe that meeting the REAL ID requirements creates a national identification card. The federal government has yet to release the final rules for the REAL ID Act. Funding to implement the requirements has not yet been determined.
