What is the difference between psychology and coaching?
The difference can be stated by looking at three elements, orientation, goals and relationship. In Orientation Therapy focus is on helping clients deal with the past Coaching focus is on the future In relation to goals Therapy is aimed to “Fix Problems” Coaching helps the client create new opportunities and get more out of life Relationship with client The therapist /client relationship is often based on an expert-patient model The coach and the client are partners in working together Coaching is not psychology. Mental health parctioners utilize a long process of in depth analysis in which they try to discover the root cause or origin of a particular disorder.
