What is the difference between psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis?
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is similar to psychoanalysis, in that it is intended to help you to become aware of ways your emotions and behaviors have been influenced by unconscious beliefs and fears. These factors can interfere with attaining a greater sense of emotional well-being and personal accomplishment. It differs from psychoanalysis in that it is a less intensive form of treatment as it involves meeting once or twice a week.
