What is the difference between professional human translation and automated machine translation?
Machine translation gives a literal translation, which does not take account of word usage in a figurative sense or in words which have two or three senses of the word. As a result, mistakes and blunders will occur, along with distortion of the meaning and plenty of amusing translation examples. This will never happen with professional, human translation by a native speaker. Automated machine translation is useful to only get an understanding or gist of a text but we would never recommend using it to correspond with clients or for text that will be published.
