What is the difference between probable and suspected cases?
A probable case is one that has tested positively for the Influenza A virus and negative for seasonal flu, and the symptoms for the H1N1 virus are present. The symptoms include an upper respiratory infection with a fever of at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit and at least one of the following: a runny nose, congestion, sore throat or a cough. A suspected case is one that has tested positive for Influenza A, but unknown whether it is the seasonal flu or A (H1N1).
