What is the difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion?

One can be “pro-choice” (i.e. supporting a woman’s right to have access to an abortion, if she decides it is necessary). That does NOT necessarily make one “pro-abortion”. One can still hope that men and women take the proper precautions so that there are very few unwanted pregnancies that force a woman to make such a decision. I think the 2nd Amendment analogy that came up earlier is a good one. I can support your right to own a firearm, and simultaneously hope that you NEVER EVER use it for any reason.

I think they are political terms. The term pro-choice is just a nice way of saying “pro-abortion”. What does the choice lead to? Obviously, it leads to people having an abortion. There is no middle ground. The pregnant either has or does not have an abortion. You may not support the abortion for you, but you do for someone else. by saying “I would never do it, but I don’t want to take that right away from someone else” is the equivalence of saying “I would never have an abortion, but it’s OK if others do.” Which means you condone the activity, thus you are pro-abortion.

This is somewhat of another question within this question? What is the difference between pro-life, pro-choice, anti-abortion, and pro-abortion? I think I remember reading somewhere that Chinese people have to get abortions if they have more than one child, but they would be more anti-abortion, because they don’t really want to have the abortion, they just have to because of the situation of the government, and may not have the option to adopt. I think everybody is pro-choice it just depends if their choice is to lean more towards keeping a baby or not. However, you would be surprised how some people talk about having an abortion if they ever were to get pregnant, but end up getting pregnant and then decide to keep it. Some people don’t really think about it, accidentally get pregnant, decide they don’t want it and instead of giving it up for adoption, they decide to terminate it. There is also the pressure of the guy who gets the girl pregnant for her to terminate it. Yeah ok its reall

Pro-Choice is a common self-description used by people who believe that the government should not outlaw abortion and believe that the choice of terminating pregnancy should be an option for a pregnant woman Pro-abortion is the belief in the right to choose to terminate a fetus (fertilized embryo).

Someone who is pro-abortion would be trying to convince women who don’t want an abortion to get one. I’ve never heard of anyone who is pro-abortion. Someone who is pro-choice respects and defends the woman’s right to choose whether to have an abortion. That includes defending a woman’s wish NOT to have an abortion even if she is under pressure (eg. from parents) to do so.
