What is the difference between PRK and LASIK Laser Vision Correction?
PRK and LASIK Laser Vision Correction are both procedures that can correct refractive error by reshaping the cornea utilizing a cool laser. This reshaping allows light rays to properly focus on the retina. PRK, or Photo Refractive Keratectomy, is usually used for lower degrees of correction. It is performed on the surface of the eye. LASIK or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis involves creating a “flap” in the cornea, using the Excimer Laser to reshape the cornea and replacing the flap in its original position.
