WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE AND COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE?
Private Pilot Certificate (Fixed Wing) 1) Minimum 40 hours of flight time, probably closer to 50 or even 60. 2) May have an instrument rating 3) May split the cost of a flight evenly, may fly in the furtherance of a business, but otherwise may not charge. 4) Probable cost is $6,000 – $8,000. Commercial Pilot Certificate (Fixed Wing) 1) Rules vary, but most programs require minimum of 250 hours of flight time 2) Not absolute, but basically an instrument rating is required. 3) Within limits, may be paid for flying. 4) Probable cost $25,000 – $35,000, over and above the money spent attaining the Private Pilot Certificate.
