What is the difference between private duty homecare vs. direct hire?
A. Private Duty Homecare – Homecare provided by an agency; caregivers are normally screened, bonded and insured by the agency; payments for services are made to the agency rather than paying the caregiver directly; private duty homecare is usually more expensive due to the extra insurances, caregiver screening process, criminal background checks, and payroll taxes. B. Direct Hire – Directly employing caregivers; client becomes the employer and is responsible for payments, liability, and taxes for the caregivers; direct hire homecare is usually less expensive than private duty homecare, but puts more responsibility and risk on the client.
