What is the difference between practicum and internship?
Practicum requires 224 hours in the field or setting, whereas the internship requires 448 hours in the setting. Both require supervision by a field coordinator within the setting and by the instructor. The practicum also requires a one hour/week meeting with a clinical supervisor to discuss the process, questions, and concerns that arise. Students complete a practicum and internship as well as a field experience (48 hours in setting) in either a school or community setting. Students identify their preferred setting (particular school, etc.) and then will either on their own or with the help of the instructor secure that placement. The instructors are very helpful in finding and securing placements for the students.
