What is the difference between PLoS Currents and the PLoS Journals?
Works submitted to PLoS Currents will be screened rapidly by a group of expert moderators to exclude material that is unsuitable, but will not receive in depth peer review that is required before publication in the PLoS Journals. For PLoS Currents, the process of authoring, submission, moderation and commentary will rely on the Google Knol software. There are also no a priori restrictions on the size, format, style or content of a contribution submitted to PLoS Currents (except relevance and potential value). Articles published in the PLoS journals have a more formal structure and specific content requirements. At the PLoS Journals, manuscripts go through the normal processes for peer-reviewed journals and initially should be submitted to a journal-specific submission site – you can find more information here (http://www.plos.org/journals/index.php).
