generally pigment base ink contains pigment & solvent and it also may be salt free. dye base ink contains dye (any water soluble colour) and water and it may be contain salt, so your cartridge’s nozzel will dry soon in dye base ink but pigmented ink preserve your cartridge’s nozzel wet & rust free.
