What is the difference between PGDM and MBA?

An MBA is awarded by universities, while a PGDM is awarded by independent institutes. There isn’t any difference in what is taught to you, however, and they both hold weight. I’m reading ICFAI univesity reviews and I’ve learnt that they award MBA degrees to students, but that doesn’t mean I’m opposed to a PGDM either. In fact, even the IIMs and XLRI award PGDM degrees so as you can imagine, it’s all good.

They differ only in nomenclature. MBA degree can be awarded only by recognized Universities whereas all others colleges/institutes having more than a year’s program award PGDM. ITM expects AIU to grant MBA Degree equivalence to its PGDM program very shortly.
