What is the difference between PBC and Practice Based Providing?

0

It is important to differentiate between PBC and the development of GPCos that provide the kind of services that may be commissioned by PCTs as a consequence of PBC recommendations. The Assura GPCos are developed to provide services by winning NHS/PCT contracts to deliver services for NHS patients. They aim to make an income and profit from providing these services, and offer the PCT potential savings through efficient care pathways and the negotiation of local tariffs. These profits are split 50:50 between the GPs in the partnership and Assura. This is separate to any arrangements GPs might have through their local PBC groups, and the percentage of savings they may receive from PCTs as a consequence of PBC implemented changes.
