What is the difference between pattern based and linear sequencing?
Pattern based sequencing uses short patterns or sequences, which can then be arranged in any order to create the song. Patterns can be repeated as desired, so programming the same thing over and over is not required. Linear sequencing is more akin to tape recording, where the whole song is one continuous sequence.
