What is the difference between partially hydrogenated soyabean oil and partially hydrogenated shortening oil?
Soyabean oil, or soybean oil, came from soybeans, while more generic terms like vegetable oils may have come from soybeans, or may have come from other crops like cotton, sunflower, corn, peanuts, canola, coconut, or palm. All these oils can be hydrogenated to the extent that they solidify to the consistency of butter. These are considered shortenings. Thus the term shortening oil strikes me as odd; either it is hydrogenated extensively enough that it is a shortening consistency, or it is dehydrogenated enough that it is an oil consistency.
