What is the difference between paper based or ink fingerprinting or electronic or digital fingerprinting?
There are a number of differences but the main differentiator is that electronic fingerprinting has a much shorter processing time. See the above question: “How long does it take?” for more details. Electronic or digital fingerprinting allows for instantaneous submission to the RCMP while Paper based fingerprinting submissions must be submitted in person or by mail. An RCMP officer will then have to scan or digitize the paper based submission so that it can be cross referenced against their records.
