What is the difference between Pakistani and Indian bridal wear?
Not much except in India the bride has a lot of freedom with the cuts and styles of her clothes as compared to Pakistan. You see a lot of sleeveless, low backs, plunging necklines in their cholis and shirts. In Pakistan, the bridal dress is more conservative. You see very few brides wearing a sleeveless kameez on their weddings…there are some that do, but here the bride isn’t supposed to look sexy per se (laughs). Our brides go more for the traditional, classic, elegant look. That’s about the only difference. Do you think that the launch of so many fashion channels and shows in the media has made a difference? A lot! Everybody watches the fashion channels and not just our clients, but even when you go to a shop, you see that people recognize you. It’s the new channels like Style Duniya and FTV, but also fashion programs on channels like Geo and even PTV.
