What is the difference between our Algae and others harvested on Upper Klamath Lake?
The main difference between our Algae and others harvested from Upper Klamath Lake is the way we process the Algae and in the time it takes for the Algae to be removed from the water at the harvest site, filtered, and frozen. When other companies’ process algae from the lake they pump it from the lake and it is processed for freezing at the end of the day. Consequently, their algae sits in barrels in the sun, and with this type of exposure, the algae degrades very quickly. At our company, it takes about ten seconds for the algae to be filtered out of the water and brought to a temperature of about 38 degrees Fahrenheit. It is held at 38 degrees F., until filled, at which time it is transported to shore and frozen. Our process preserves all of the enzymatic activity and the integrity of the nutrients in the Algae.
