What is the difference between OT services at school and at a private clinic?
School districts operate under separate guidelines than private practitioners. For a child to receive occupational therapy in the schools it must be proven that it is “educationally relevant” and must focus on educational goals and objectives. OT services in Texas are considered to be services and are utilized to assist the teachers in helping students master their IEP goals. In contrast, private therapy focuses on issues that may facilitate improved academic performance, but it is typically more focused on sensory integration treatments.
