What is the difference between OMIM and the book, Mendelian Inheritance in Man?
OMIM (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man) is a computerized database version of Victor McKusick’s book, Mendelian Inheritance in Man, provided through the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The primary difference between the two resources is that the online version is more current. The online database is updated daily, whereas the book contains all the information that was available online at the time of print. The online version also provides links to a variety of related resources. The print version contains a foreword, preface, and appendices that are not available online.
