What is the difference between oils and “essential oils”?

0

Oils are mechanically extracted from fruit, nuts, and seeds (avocados, almonds, apricots, coconut, etc.) for their high fat content. They are called “carrier oils”. Essential oils are distilled from flower petals, leaves, herbs, spices, tree barks and the peel of various fruits. Much more volatile and costly than the oils, they are considered to contain the “essence” of the plant. It is always recommended to dilute a few drops of essential oils in a carrier oil before applying them to the skin.
