What is the difference between oil paint and acrylic paint?

0

For centuries oil paint has been the traditional medium for paintings. True to their name, oil paints are oil based and are thinned with other oils or turpentine. The mediums used with traditional oil paint can be toxic to humans and to the environment. Acrylic paint is polymer based. In the past acrylic paintings were criticized for a dry or flat look. Today there are many fine mediums to mix with acrylic paint that give the shine and depth of traditional oils without the toxins. Side by side I guarantee my acrylic paintings to be indistinguishable from traditional oil paintings.
