What is the difference between off-road and motocross from a team manager standpoint?
Mike: The bottom line is that we’re still racing dirt bikes. But, in offroad we look closer at reliability issues with the bikes because the races are three hours. In motocross you need reliability but performance is more important. So for motocross I’ll concentrate more on shear performance. It doesn’t really change much, it’s the same application, I’ll just focus on different areas. MXA: Is there any difference is scheduling and budgets and things? Mike: Yeah, budgets in motocross are much higher. With scheduling in offroad we had to travel maybe 15 times a year, and now that will be doubled. So the schedule and budget numbers change a lot. MXA: What aspects are you looking forward to? Mike: I’m really looking forward to working with Ryan and Metty. I’ve always enjoyed working with the athletes themselves.
