What is the difference between no limit, pot limit and fixed limit poker?

In no limit poker (the kind they play in the WPT main events) there is no limit whatsoever to the amount a player can raise at any given time. If you feel like you just flopped a monster hand and you want others to know it too you may go all in ( meaning to commit all your chips) on the hand, regardless of how much money you possess. In pot limit poker, a player can only raise the size of the pot after his/her own call at any given time. That means that on a 2-4 pot limit table, if the player before you ( the one who comes after the big blind) raises 4 you’ll be able to raise to a max of 14. In fixed limit poker there is a set limit to the amount of money that can be raised at any given time.
