What is the difference between New Mexican Spanish and Mexican Spanish?

The only different Spanish books you’ll find is if you look at a south American Spanish book. My dad is from south America and when he talks to the Mexican people some words are different and the same thing with the people from spain. It just has to do with the area. and since New mexico is right next to mexico it shouldn’t be that big a difference if there even is one.
