What is the difference between Nelson Mandela & Mao Tse Tung?
Nelson Mandela rose to power democratically and legally. He won his revolution by smart politics and by sheer force of character, getting the whites to trust him enough that they were willing to give up total power to avoid a racial motivated revolutionary war. He served one term as president then stepped down, transferring power peacefully to his successor. Mao was a revolutionary who came to power by force of arms in a huge Civil War. He held onto power till the day he died. He caused tens of millions of deaths in the famines that were the result of his Great Leap Forward and his Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. His tyrannical system produced mass misery for everyone. His personal character was deeply flawed. He indulged himself endlessly with women and girls he forced to his bed.
