What is the difference between natural rubber and synthetic rubber?
Natural rubber comes from the rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis). The harvesting of natural rubber occurs by harmlessly “tapping” into the tree to remove a milky sap from the bark. This does not affect the health of the tree. Please see the pictures for a visual description of the “tapping” process. Synthetic rubber is manufactured from petrochemical feedstocks, with crude oil being the primary raw material.
