What is the difference between natural and synthetic waxes and fragrances?
Natural waxes are growing in popularity because they eliminate or greatly reduce candle soot. Palm wax and soy wax are the two most popular choices. Palm wax naturally forms a beautiful pattern and iridescent sheen. The wax is made from palm oil so it is a 100% renewable resource. Paraffin wax has been used for years in candles. The soot or smoke from paraffin candles is created when the wick is too large or the fragrance contains cheaper ingredients that smoke. Proper wicking & high quality fragrance can virtually eliminate the smoking problems. Vivid pillars are paraffin and the snowflake effect they have is called mottling. This is created as the candle wax cools & hardens, the fragrance is pushed through the wax and creates small cracks so every candle made with this process is unique. To create a non-mottled pillar additives are added to the wax to harden the candle. Paraffin has a stronger cold and hot throw than soy and palm wax, so it is still a good choice for candles. Sagapo
