Treacle is less refined than molasses, therefore it is darker in colour. Molasses is” Made from sugar cane. The roots of the sugar cane are deep and therefore able to receive a broad-spectrum of minerals & trace elements. Black strap molasses is the liquor after removal of the crystalised sugar.” Golden syrup is more refined again and therefore lighter in colour and higher in sugar content. This is used for desserts etc. Molasses has a strong flavour and is not suitable for desserts.
