What is the Difference Between ModIOS Tool Suite and the New S2Focus™ Tool Suite?
Both ModIOS® and S2Focus™ are tool suits to record, visualize, analyze, and manage a distributed simulation exercise in both DIS (IEEE 1278) and HLA. ModIOS is a mature product that has been used by DOD and civil customers for almost ten years. S2Focus is the next-generation version of ModIOS designed from the ground up to support the large HLA exercises of the future. ModIOS was originally developed for UNIX workstations and was later ported to the Windows™ PC platform. S2Focus™ is designed to take full advantage of the Windows platform and providing the look and feel of typical Windows applications (such as multi-document multi-view capability). S2Focus™ is also designed to be truly independent of the simulation protocol (whether DIS or HLA) and provide true FOM independence through a user customizable and object oriented FOM plug-in programmers interface or API.
