What is the difference between Microsoft works and excel ??
Excel is a stand alone spreadsheet programme mainly used for book-keeping, basic databases, home accounting, calculations and so on. It is part of the main Microsoft Office Suite – Comprising Word, Excel, PowerPoint and publisher and so on. These can be bought separately or together. Excel is used to do company accounts, scientific calculations and so on. MS Works is a cut-down version of MS Office that combines just elements of several MS Office programmes. It is cheaper than MS Office and aimed at very small businesses and home user. It has a spreadsheet, but not as powerful as Excel, but proably more than enough for most small businesses. MS Works also probably also has more templates etc. to help people accomplish tasks. Excel demands more from those using it, Works tries to simplify things. Works will also have a word processor, maybe a presentations program and a routeplanner. This is from memory and MS do change it from time to time.
