What is the difference between metro area, neighborhood, and suburb?
Metro areas are the “largest” of the three and is the terms for a city and all associated neighborhoods, suburbs, etc. A neighborhood is a section of a city, such as Back Bay in Boston). A suburb is a separate town that can be very close to the main city (i.e., Cambridge to Boston) or farther away. Determining if an area is a neighborhod or a suburb is sometimes more of an art than a science – just let us know if you think the way that we’ve classified something is confusing and we’ll adjust accordingly.
