What is the difference between Memory and Ordinary foam?
Memory foam is heat and pressure sensitive. It feels firm when it is cold and soft when it is warm. Polyurethane (ordinary) foam does not have the capability to respond to temperature – it makes no difference whether you sleep in a warm or cold environment. Memory foam also has pressure-relieving properties – If you put pressure onto its surface it will leave an impression for several seconds after you relinquish this pressure. This ability to remember this pressure has given rise to the description “Memory foam”. Ordinary (Polyurethane) foam regains its original shape immediately after the pressure has been removed, as it has no inherent ability to memorise the pressure applied. Because of its unique formulation, memory foam has the ability to absorb and memorise these downward forces as well as creating minimal upward pressure.
