I do not like the answer of nurse vs doctor which is ill informed. In general terms a MET degree is achieved studying the current manufacturing and engineering practices in use. While an ME is more theory based and is therefore more broad and has more opportunities down the road. Initially a person with a degree in MET is able to enter the work force right away because he has learned current technology while a ME grad might have to intern in order to apply what he has learned in school to real world applications. In the end though the ME degree is more prestigious and will more than often be the more lucrative as time goes on.
