Manual resetting forces the testing of the GFCI and avoids unexpected restarts when power returns. Auto reset was designed for the spa applications of GFCI’s to avoid freezing of the tub and customer complaints of a cold tub when power is lost. This design is exceptionally dangerous for construction applications where an unexpected return of power could and has caused serious accidents.
