What is the difference between lycans and werewolfs?

There’s not a difference. The terms are synonymous. Usually, though, Lycan is used to describe a Werewolf that has learned to change into wolf form any time he/she wants to. The person who said Lycans can change into any other animal is wrong. The creature that answerer is referring to is a shapeshifter or perhaps a changeling. These are two different creatures but I digress. That’s not what you asked.
