What is the difference between LuxWiz and previous lighting treatment systems such as dimmers and wave choppers?
Dimmer and wave choppers use essentially the same technology, solid state switching to cut out part of the voltage waveform to reduce power to the load. The cut out part of the voltage waveform is normally variable. The more the cut out part of the waveform, the lower the power to the load. Dimmers usually refer to smaller units of wave choppers commonly used for a single lamp or 1 or 2 lamp fixtures with a handful of lamps, for example. They are commonly used to dim incandescent light bulbs in homes. Wave choppers usually refer to larger units used for lighting circuits with many lamps.
