What is the difference between Lipascor® and other statin drugs?

0

Lipascor® is a natural product of fermentation of red yeast (Monascus purpureus Went specie) on rice. It contains a mixture of natural HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (monacolins); substantial amounts of mono, di and polyunsaturated fatty acids; and other constituents such as proteins, amino acids, isoflavones and trace elements whereas the other statin drugs are single chemical entities derived from synthetic or hemi-synthetic processes.
