Linux is far easier to use, but you see, Windows has become so mainstream there are many, many applications that are not yet compatible with Linux. However, if you want it for simple things such as music, email, Internet surfing and storing images, then Linux would be fine to do this. The bad thing about Linux is you often have to type some code, to do things such as connect to the Internet. This is not so with Windows, cancelling out my previous accusation entirely. Windows is far better for media handling, but if you do not like the way Linux runs, you can edit the simple source code to make it run the way you want, as it is an open source operating system. Windows is closed source, leaving your restricted to the way that Microsoft makes it run themselves. Windows is slower than Linux, and Linux takes up far less system resources and power, making it a more efficient and ecologically friendly operating system.
