What is the difference between licensing the Macromedia web players for my intranet, and distributing them on a CD-ROM or with an Internet application?
Many corporate users have developed specific content or applications using Macromedia web players for deployment on their company intranet system. The Macromedia Flash Player and Shockwave Player Distribution Program allows enterprises to distribute Macromedia Flash Player and Shockwave Player to all employees free of charge. Macromedia has an intranet-only license agreement designed exclusively for companies that wish to distribute Macromedia web players on their company’s intranet system. Both Macromedia Flash Player and Shockwave Player are also free to software developers who wish to distribute them on CD-ROM. In addition, software developers may distribute Macromedia web players through the Internet to end users (only if the web player is embedded in the licensee’s installer which, in turn, is downloaded from the Internet). Macromedia requires specific marketing consideration in exchange for either of these methods of distribution, described more fully in the Macromedia Flash Play
