What is the difference between Leadership and Management time (L & M) and Preparation, Planning and Assessment (PPA) time?
L & M time is statutory for teachers with management responsibilities from September 2003. The amount is not specified, what is expected is what is “reasonable”. PPA time is non-contact time for all teachers and it is in addition to L & M time. From September 2005, all teachers are entitled to receive 10% PPA time within the timetabled day, which cannot be taken for cover.
