What is the difference between Kernel, ESI, Kit, and CM firmware?

0

The kernel is the DSP firmware for the MV1200 microcontroller and contains the “low level” software that performs the mathematical functions required for the fingerprint comparison to occur at the Veri-Series reader. This firmware is referred to as Veri-Series firmware. The ESI (External Storage Interface) firmware allows for communications between the MV1200 microcontroller and the smart card reader. The Kit firmware is the microcontroller firmware for the V-Station’s keypad and disply micro. The CM is the microcontroller firmware for the communication manager (or rabbit board) of the V-Station.
