What is the difference between joint stereo and simple stereo?
The human ear cannot locate the Stereokanaele with deep tones, with middle tones arises the direction from the different points in time, on which the signals with the left and right ear arrive. With high frequencies the Stereoeindruck is only comprehensible by the volume difference. The Fraunhofer Encoder can produce the same impression also with the ” joint stereo ” procedure. It divides the Stereosignal into a center signal, which by addition of the left and right channel one forms, and a side signal, that by subtraction the two channels develops. Since the side signal contains very many fewer information, results compared with two adequate L and R channels a strongly reduced quantity of data, with that itself the compression rate on 1:10 to 1:12 to press leaves.
