What is the difference between “jazz music” and Frank Sinatra?

Loving all of these answers. Frank Sinatra was a crooner and though usually he had jazz musicians supporting him, the charts were tight and there was little room for the players to stand out. That’s no knock at Frank Sinatra since he was the star. Jazz singers like Eddie Jefferson had backing bands that would swing, too. He allowed lots of solos and if a player caught fire on a solo, Eddie would urge him to keep going. Billie Holiday also allowed many solos from her supporting cast.
