What is the difference between IST and Computer Science?
Computer science focuses on technical details more than the IST program. Typical Computer Science coursework includes Calculus I, II, and III, Matrices, Physics I and II, Differential Equations, digital circuitry, introductory through advanced programming, assembly language, computer organization, compiler design, artificial intelligence, and operating systems. Skills in Computer Science range from design of software and hardware at the bit and byte level to designing complex computer systems. IST students are required to take courses in math, statistics, and programming languages. The emphasis is more on solving problems at the application and systems level.
